Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HUMP) is one of Vietnam's most respected medical universities, located in Hue — the former imperial capital of Vietnam and a UNESCO World Heritage city. HUMP is listed on the WHO AVICENNA directory and has been offering English-medium medical education to international students since 2010. For Indian students, HUMP represents an excellent combination of affordable cost, English-medium teaching, WHO listing, and clinical training at Hue Central Hospital — one of Vietnam's largest and most advanced regional hospitals.

Clinical years (4–6) are conducted at Hue Central Hospital — a 1,400-bed regional referral centre with high patient volumes in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, OB-GYN, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, and Neurology. This provides rich clinical diversity that directly prepares students for NExT Step 2.

Hue is Vietnam's most culturally significant city — home to the Imperial Citadel, royal tombs, and ancient pagodas. It is smaller and quieter than Hanoi or HCMC, with significantly lower living costs. Indian students consistently rate Hue as one of the most comfortable and manageable cities for student life in Vietnam. Food is excellent and affordable; Indian restaurants serve the Indian student community.
HUMP's English-medium curriculum, systematic foundational science teaching, and diverse clinical case exposure at Hue Central Hospital provides a strong platform for NExT Step 1 (theoretical) and NExT Step 2 (clinical skills). VedKris Edu recommends starting dedicated NExT preparation coaching from Year 3 for all Vietnam MBBS students.
HUMP is WHO-listed on the AVICENNA directory. NMC India approval status must be confirmed at the time of admission — VedKris Edu performs a current NMC verification check before every Vietnam placement. Contact us for the latest status confirmation before applying.
The MBBS programme at HUMP is entirely English-medium for international students. A basic medical Vietnamese language module (Year 1) covers hospital communication essentials — approximately 4 hours/week, manageable within 3–4 months of study.
